5 HOME PILATES CLASSES TO TAKE (& WITH YOU TOO)
Long before the pandemic hit and everyone started working out from home, I was getting my sweat on to whoever was leading me from the screen. I loved discovering new YouTube fitness peeps who have since become major fitness stars in their own right. As like anything though, there is such an abundance today of instructors who have their own platforms, websites and YouTube channels that navigating the reviews to figure out what to take could be a full-time job at this point. Which is why I have created a short list so that you can easily find whatever style of Pilates it is that you are looking for.
Whether it be a classical mat class, a contemporary mix or a combination of standing sculpt action and/or barre burn exercises, this list should help you suss out exactly what you need, when you need it.
BURN PILATES
Created with the intention of giving you classes that you can curate with choice, Burn Pilates has been a labour of love that I have worked to make as accessible as I can to those who are looking to train with me, but can’t make it to an in-studio reformer session. I have loved bringing classes to YouTube in the styles that I am looking for when I train.
Choice, customizable, accessible, efficient and variety.
Whether you feel like doing a standing sculpt class and/or a mat series, there are over 135+ classes available with 3 new ones being released weekly Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Join the BURN STUDIO and never miss a class!
PILATES ANYTIME
I have long loved Pilates Anytime because of its HUGE database of instructors and classes. A couple teachers that I love to take class with, Courtney Miller and Tracey Mallett, have a number of new and old classes that are favourites of mine. Whether it’s to learn a new exercise, take a class for myself and/or try out an instructor that I haven’t tried, Pilates Anytime has one of the largest libraries with instructors from around the world who are leaders in their practice and Pilates expertise.
B THE METHOD
Something that matters to me when I train is having instructors who know how to deliver instruction via an online class and who are excellent examples of a less is more experience. Lia Bartha is amazing and has created a very accessible platform where you can get in a workout sans equipment, sans problem. I love that her methodology has been created with the goal of teaching correct form, function and posture. I know that no matter the class, I am going to feel as great on the inside as I do on the outside when I take her classes. When I want a bit more attention to being in intention, B the Method is an app that I always go to.
THE PILATES CLASS
The Pilates Class gained its following with Australian and L.A. fitness girls who flocked to the aesthetically pleasing platform and app that delivers a variety of Pilates classes ranging from barre to pre-natal to more athletic and classic. With a variety of teachers and styles, always taught in a calm and serene setting, this app is a great place to start for anyone looking to dabble in mat classes and/or get a bit more variety from a one-stop-shop that offers more than just the mat.
FORMA
I first discovered Vie Pilates through Instagram and was immediately impressed with the classical and contemporary delivery of their classes. Sylvia is absolutely stunning and her movements are major #goals. Not only does she clearly practice what she preaches but equally offers a quality Pilates experience that you can take with you on the go. I also love the fact that the website is beautiful and easy to use. They have an app but I am much more of a browser kind of girl when it comes to taking class online and so I always look for a website that delivers a great experience that feels studio-esque.
