AYUNA, SKIN FASTING SKINCARE

Ayuna skincare from left to right
Plasma, Essence, Nectar, Need-le, Yan You Powder

I love skincare products.
Everything from the packaging, the texture, the color, the experience, literally every part of it - I love. It’s one of the reasons why I have never been exceptionally loyal to any particular brand as I have always been interested in learning about new brands and ingredients that are working wonders on skin and healthy-aging. The whole process of using a skincare product is what I am about and there’s nothing that has quite compared to that of Spanish brand Ayuna.

Ayuna means fasting in Spanish and is a concept that this brand uses in its development and use of products. The ethos behind Ayuna is that less is more, which is what LifebyLyd is all about. Why douse heaps of products on when you can use a few and get major results? The ingredients, consistency and smell of Ayuna’s product are as natural as you can get, and with a focus on making mental health a priority in skincare regime’s, it’s no wonder these products encompass an experience that set them apart from other’s.

The first product I tried was the Plasma mask which is a mask that known as ‘Lymphatic drainage in a bottle.’ This blue protein plasma mask activates circulation, while draining and tightening the skin. The texture of this mask is quite elastic and it’s properties in it’s sticky gel-textured formula re-educate the complexion and revives the tissues of the skin. A totally different mask feeling that I have had in the past, and a different kind of way to mask, but after the first time I already saw a difference in my skin’s moisture levels and glow. Bouncy and dewy and tight, in all the right ways.
I am now on my second bottle.

The second is the Essence. Unlike any water-based essence that I have every tired, this essence is really called a gommage, which exfoliates and hydrates. Soft, almost like an icing texture, this gommage (grain-free) exfoliation uncovers smooth and silky skin in just three phases: a protein peel (based in alpha amino acids) awakens dull skin; a gentle polish rejuvenates the appearance, and an oleo-essence serum leaves the skin remarkably soft to the touch. The result is a visibly brighter, more refined skin and even complexion. It’s one of the more funky types of product that I have used, especially as it’s applied to and removed from skin sans water. Since using it though I have definitely seen and felt the difference that it makes especially during the hot summer months when you want your skin to feel buffed, beautiful and bouncy.

Nectar and Need-le.
Wow. Now these are standouts.

Nectar is a divinely lightweight cream-serum that combines organic active ingredients based on “Living Stone” Stem Cells and hyaluronic-like bio-sugars to increase vitamin D levels while restoring the feel of supple, soothed skin. The silky texture, the glorious smooth application and the delicious salmon-coloured hue all combine to make this product as luxurious as its price tag, but well worth it. A little goes a long way!

Need-le has got to be one of the most technologically advance product that uses industry innovation combining galenic channeling: a concept inspired in the Microneedling technique and photobiotic factor: bacteria play a key role in skin photo defense. Like a master brightener that endows your skin with a silky texture, NEED-LE achieves purity, clarity and radiant intensity into any beauty ritual. The illuminating formula bestows upon the skin a silkiness and turns the page on pigmentation quality, enhancing its true hue and radiance. Glow up turned on megawatt!

Last, but not least, I have been majorly enjoying the Yan You Powder.
This aromatic powder is made up of inorganic and organic compounds in suspension, that in water, form a hydrotherapy cure that helps to reinforce the skin barrier and even out its texture, reactivating its radiance from the inside to the outside. In just a few weeks I have already seen added tightness, tightness and tone. I love using this as a bathing ritual for my skin when I wake up and after I shower at night before I do anything else.

While Ayuna comes with a price tag (doesn’t all great skincare) it also comes with potency and efficacy. A little goes a long way, and all of these products would get used within the span of a week. You wouldn't be using every single one daily, which helps when thinking about forking up the cost for a couple of their products. The trick is knowing exactly what it is you are wishing to get out of your products, and for me it’s all about ingredients and experience. I am not going to pay the costs of getting injectables which is why I am willing to pay extra for great skincare that is made ethically, responsibly and sustainably. The ethos of Ayuna is one I can get behind and the company is super inspiring. Whether it be the process of creating a product, growing their own gardens for their ingredients and/or designing a new kind of experience that focuses on mental health being a part of skincare, every box gets a solid check from me.

Plus, anything that makes me feel like Cleopatra in an apothecary of beauty treatments is totally going to get me on all levels.
Simple, understated elegance where less is always more.
