There is a reason why my girlfriend’s and I plan a monthly dinner at Elena.
First, we love pizza. Second we love wine. And thirdly, even though we may not drink coffee at the end of our night, we do love coffee. The staff are friendly, inviting and will definitely make sure that your glass is never empty.
Elena has done very well since it’s opening and, with a cult-like following, serves a tasty eat in the front (restaurant) or back (P.S. Club Social). One of my personal favourite things about Elena is the back of the restaurant at the P.S. Club Social. This little speak-easy style bar setting has not only a quaint and quiet feel and has a lovely terasse-garden seating in the summer, but also offers up a lunch menu that is perfect for the day-time pizza lovers. Not only is the music stellar in the back (the wine-tenders play an incredible curated mix of goodies and oldies) but you won’t be straining to hear your own conversation. If anything the music actually contributes to the atmosphere, something that I hate to say is not always the case in Montreal restaurants.
For fab faves, the Alla Pala pizza is amazing with it’s ooey gooey stracciatella on tomato, basil and parmesan and while Pizza is a must, everything on the menu is truthfully a win. If you are looking a yummy pizza eve in a trendy restaurant, the front of house is it. It’s busy, lively and often is hosting people that you may just know. If you are looking to keep it low-key and not necessarily run into anyone you know, check out the back.
It’s nice to have your pic, and at Elena you definitely have your pick. Just as long as you make a reservation in advance for dinner, because this place gets packed up.
